New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : China and Canada have issued advisories to their citizens to leave Iran, citing the evolving situation in the Middle East and reports that US-Iran talks have failed to yield any concrete results.
China has advised its citizens to avoid traveling to Iran, saying that there is a risk of US attacks on Iran, so "external risks have increased significantly."
"In view of the current security situation in Iran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Iran would like to urge Chinese citizens to refrain from travelling to Iran for the time being," Beijing's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"All Chinese citizens in Iran are advised to heed security precautions and evacuate as soon as possible." Canada, meanwhile, has urged all its citizens in Iran to leave as soon as possible, as tensions remain high in the region. The government says, "Canadian citizens in Iran: Due to ongoing tensions, the situation in the region is uncertain. Conflict could erupt without warning. If you can safely leave Iran, do so now. Ensure your travel documents are up-to-date and that you have sufficient luggage in case you need to stop."
Poland, Sweden, India, and other countries have also urged their citizens to leave Iran, citing the potential for escalation of tensions in the region. The US Embassy in Israel issued an advisory on Friday, urging American officials and their families to avoid certain areas of Israel, including Jerusalem, citing terrorist incidents and widespread unrest.
