US opens doors to adult content creators: Visa opportunities available for performers and models

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News) - Until now, the H-1B visa has been the most discussed topic in US visa policy—sometimes regarding fee hikes, sometimes regarding delays in interviews. But now the focus has shifted to the O-1 visa. Surprisingly, while applications from engineers and students are pending, the US is rapidly approving O-1 visas, and that too to a specific group. Adult filmmakers are mostly qualifying for the O-1 visa. This means that America now needs porn filmmakers and models, not engineers and scholars.
Who gets an O-1 visa?
The O-1 visa is commonly called the "genius visa." It's awarded to individuals with exceptional talent in fields such as science, art, education, sports, and business. However, this visa is now being increasingly granted to OnlyFans users. OnlyFans is a social platform where people create adult portfolios.
People associated with OnlyFans and the adult industry ahead of others
According to recent reports, a large number of O-1 visa recipients are adult filmmakers and digital content creators. These individuals are particularly active on digital platforms like OnlyFans, where adult content generates large audiences and revenue. According to a Financial Times report, the US is projected to increase O-1 visa issuances by nearly 50 percent between 2014 and 2024.
Immigration experts say that adult filmmakers use their digital platform reach, number of followers, earnings, and media interviews as proof of their "ability." Because the O-1 visa doesn't clearly define the arts, this field has also fallen under its purview.
The O-1 visa is becoming an alternative to the H-1B
Most adult models and filmmakers live outside the United States but work with American studios and platforms. The requirements of the H-1B visa do not apply to them, making the O-1 visa their primary option. Their applications are being approved relatively easily due to their strong digital credentials, high earnings, and large audiences.
