Trump: “We have enough weapons to destroy the world 150 times over”

Washington (The Uttam Hindu): US President Donald Trump's order to conduct a nuclear test has caused an international uproar, but Trump remains firm on his decision. In a recent statement, he said that the US already has enough nuclear weapons to destroy the entire world, yet the country still needs to conduct nuclear tests. Trump said that the growing nuclear ambitions of Russia and China are the main reason for America's move.
“We have enough weapons to destroy the world 150 times over,” US President Trump's shocking statement: Trump told in an interview to CBS that he took the decision of nuclear testing when he realized that despite having such a huge nuclear stockpile, America cannot remain the only country which does not conduct tests. The President had posted on social media just a few hours before meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea and ordered the Defense Department to immediately start nuclear testing. His decision was criticized worldwide and many experts warned that this could start a race for nuclear testing again at the global level.
"We have more nuclear weapons than any other country, and we should seriously consider nuclear disarmament," Trump said. "I've spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping about this. We have enough nuclear weapons to destroy the entire world 150 times over. Russia and China also have significant quantities of nuclear weapons."
He further stated that he does not want the United States to be the only country not conducting nuclear tests. Trump alleged that Russia has recently resumed nuclear testing, North Korea is also conducting frequent tests, and other countries are also actively pursuing this.
It is worth noting that the US last conducted a nuclear test in 1992 as part of "Operation Julian." This test has become a topic of discussion between the US and Russia at a time when relations between the two countries are strained due to the Ukraine war. It is noteworthy that both countries have signed the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) to prevent nuclear testing. This treaty has been signed by 187 countries so far, including China, India, Pakistan, North Korea, and Israel.
