“If Zohran Mamdani becomes mayor of New York…” — Trump’s major warning ahead of elections

New York/Washington (The Uttam Hindu): US President Donald Trump has called Democratic New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani a "communist" and warned that his victory would plunge the city into economic and social disaster. He endorsed former Governor Andrew Cuomo and said he would limit federal funding to New York if Mamdani won.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that the city had no chance of survival under Mamdani's leadership. He said, "I would rather see a Democrat with experience win, not a failed communist."
Born in Uganda, Mamdani, 34, of Indian descent, is a member of the New York State Assembly and a Democratic Socialist. He is the son of Mira Nair and author Mahmood Mamdani. He defeated Cuomo in the Democratic primary and is now running against Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa, an independent candidate.
In a recent poll, Mamdani leads with 45.8% support, while Cuomo has 31.1% and Sliwa has 17.3%. Voting will take place on November 4. Regarding Trump's attacks, Mamdani said he had expected him to support Cuomo. Former President Barack Obama has praised his campaign, and young voters appear to be actively supporting him.
