Big Breaking: Sanaur MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra Arrested on Rape Charges
Sanaur(The Uttam Hindu): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Sanaur constituency, Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, has been arrested on rape charges following a complaint filed by a woman. The MLA, who won the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections from Sanaur with a significant margin, is now at the center of a major controversy.
Pathanmajra has previously been embroiled in multiple disputes. In 2022, his second wife, Gurpreet Kaur, accused him of hiding his first marriage and subjecting her to physical abuse. He also faced public scrutiny after an alleged obscene video surfaced online.
Recently, Pathanmajra made headlines for criticizing his own party’s central leadership and the Punjab government. He raised concerns about flood-affected areas in his constituency and slammed senior bureaucrats over the issue of river cleaning.
Just a day before his arrest, Pathanmajra claimed that his security cover had been withdrawn. He alleged that the move was politically motivated, stating: “I told my security personnel yesterday itself that they would be called back. Delhi leaders think they can intimidate me with vigilance cases or FIRs, but I will never bow down. I will stand like a rock with my people.”
He further urged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to rise above what he described as “pressure from the high command.”
