Befriended on Social Media, Lured with Love, Then Raped: Former Mumbai Indians Cricketer Arrested
Jodhpur (The Uttam Hindu): Former Indian Premier League (IPL) cricketer Shivalik Sharma has been arrested on serious charges of rape. One of his friends, with whom he was in a relationship, has leveled this allegation against him. Jodhpur's Kudi Bhagatsuni Housing Board Police Station has taken action in this case and arrested Shivalik Sharma and sent him to judicial custody.
In her complaint to the police, the victim said that their friendship was made through social media, which gradually turned into love. According to the girl, Shivalik came to Jodhpur several times to meet her and promised to marry her. Both of them were also engaged. The girl alleges that during this time Shivalik made physical relations with her by luring her with marriage.
The girl also told that Shivalik's family later broke their engagement and started looking for a match for Shivalik somewhere else. After this, the girl registered a case of rape against Shivalik Sharma. Police arrested Shivalik Sharma on Saturday from Atladara police station area of Vadodara, Gujarat. After the arrest, he was produced in Jodhpur court, from where he has been sent to judicial custody.
Shivalik Sharma's cricket career has been associated with the Baroda team. He has played more than 50 domestic matches for Baroda. He has also been a part of the Mumbai Indians cricket team. In the IPL 2024 auction, Mumbai Indians bought him for Rs 20 lakh, although he did not get a chance to play a single match that season. He has also played with Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya in the Baroda team. At present, he is not a part of any IPL team.
