DGMO Talks: India Warns Pakistan to Cease Unprovoked Firing Along LoC

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan held talks over the hotline yesterday, amid continued escalation between the two countries following the Pahalgam attack and ceasefire violations by Pakistan. India raised concerns over unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan and warned against such actions along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to the Indian Army, Pakistan initiated unprovoked firing of small arms across the LoC in Nowshera, Sunderbani and Akhnoor sectors of Jammu and Kashmir on the night of April 29-30. The Indian Army responded swiftly and appropriately to these actions. The Army noted that ceasefire violations by Pakistan are no longer limited to the LoC but have reached the international border. This is not an isolated incident, as Pakistan has repeatedly violated the ceasefire in recent days. Earlier, the Pakistan Army had resorted to unprovoked firing across the LoC in Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as in the Akhnoor sector, on the night of April 28-29. Firing was also reported on the nights of April 27-28, April 26-27 and April 25-26.

The DGMO talks were held in this backdrop, with India emphasizing the need for Pakistan to adhere to the ceasefire agreement. The situation along the LoC and international border remains tense, with India maintaining a strong response to any provocations.
