In Jalandhar, the encounter took place near Suran village in the Suranusi area. According to officials, a suspect identified as Sajan, a resident of Islamabad (Punjab), opened fire on the police after being signaled to stop at a blockade near Vidhipur Gate. The accused, who was riding a bike without a number plate and had his face covered, ignored police instructions and fired at the team before fleeing toward Suran village.

During the chase, Sajan fired another shot which struck the police vehicle. In retaliatory firing, he was injured in his left leg. The police apprehended him at the spot and recovered three pistols. The accused was admitted to the hospital for treatment.

As per investigations, Sajan has 20 criminal cases registered against him, including charges of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, and violations under the NDPS Act.
