Golden Temple Receives RDX Bomb Threat via Email — Security Heightened, Investigation Underway
Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu):The iconic Golden Temple in Amritsar received a bomb threat via email on Monday, warning of an attempt to blow up the premises using RDX explosives. The threat specifically targeted the Langar Hall of the revered shrine. In response, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has tightened security both inside and outside the premises.
SGPC member Kulwant Singh Mannan confirmed that the committee's internal task force has been instructed to closely monitor and screen suspicious individuals within the shrine complex. The Punjab Police has also increased its deployment in the surrounding area.
SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, during a press conference, stated that it’s still unclear whether the threat is credible or merely a mischief. The local SHO has begun an investigation into the source of the email to determine the intent and identity of the sender.
Despite the alarming situation, the SGPC continues preparations for the 350th-year centenary celebrations, for which invitations will be extended to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, various state Chief Ministers, the Lok Sabha Speaker, and religious leaders across faiths, including the Shankaracharyas. Special Nagar Kirtans will be organized from Assam and Jammu, and an interfaith conference will also be held as part of the events.
