Government Takes Big Action in Haridwar Land Scam: 12 Officers including 2 IAS and 1 PCS Suspended
Dehradun (Uttam Hindu News): The Dhami government of Uttarakhand has taken major action in the land scam of crores in Haridwar and has suspended a total of 12 people including two IAS, one PCS officer. In this case, the District Magistrate (DM), Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) and former Municipal Commissioner have also been punished. Now the Vigilance Department will investigate this entire land scam.
This case is related to the purchase of land worth Rs 15 crore by Haridwar Municipal Corporation for Rs 54 crore. It is alleged that the Municipal Corporation purchased unsuitable and unused land at a very high price, even though there was no immediate need for it. Apart from this, transparency was not maintained in the process of land purchase and this scam was carried out by ignoring the rules of governance.
As soon as the report was received after the investigation, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took immediate action and suspended Haridwar District Magistrate Karmendra Singh, former Municipal Commissioner Varun Chaudhary and SDM Ajayveer Singh with immediate effect. Apart from this, Senior Finance Officer Nikita Bisht, Kanungo Rajesh Kumar, Tehsil Administrative Officer Kamaldas and Senior Personal Assistant Vicky have also been suspended.
This is the first time in the history of Uttarakhand that the ruling government has taken direct and strict action against such high ranking officials in its own system. This decision taken by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the Haridwar land scam is not only a step towards exposing a major scam, but it is also being considered a sign of a decisive change in the administrative and political culture of Uttarakhand.
Earlier, in this case, Municipal Corporation in-charge Assistant Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Dayal, Executive Engineer Anand Singh Mishravan, Tax and Revenue Superintendent Laxmikant Bhatt and Junior Engineer Dinesh Chandra Kandpal have also been suspended. Along with this, the service extension of property clerk Vedwal has been terminated and instructions have been given for disciplinary action against him.
