Hoshiarpur District Administration Launches Awareness Campaign on Civil Defense
Hoshiarpur (The Uttam Hindu): The Hoshiarpur district administration has embarked on a massive awareness campaign on civil defense, aiming to reach every village and town in the district. Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain directed officials to prepare a monthly plan and assign duties to volunteers.
The campaign includes:
- Organizing public meetings in villages and towns to spread awareness
- Distributing promotional material to help people identify objects in the sky, such as satellites, drones or other objects
- Curbing rumors and misinformation on social media
- Strict action will be taken against those spreading fake news
Appeal to Citizens
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to citizens not to believe or share unverified news on social media. She emphasized that the district administration and police will take strict action against those spreading rumors.
Civil Defense Volunteer Force
The district administration has prepared a Civil Defence Volunteer Force, comprising NGOs, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, ex-servicemen and village sarpanches. This force will play a crucial role in spreading awareness and dealing with emergency situations.
Strict Action Against Rumor-Mongers
The Deputy Commissioner warned that the cyber cell of the police is closely monitoring those who spread rumors, and strict action will be taken against them. Citizens are advised to rely only on information shared by the district administration or police.
