Good News for Taxpayers: Deadline for Filing Income Tax Returns Extended
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Income Tax Department has changed the last date for filing Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the financial year 2024-25. Giving a big relief to the taxpayers, the department has now extended the last date for filing returns from July 31, 2025 to September 15, 2025. This decision has been taken after the delay in issuing the notification of Income Tax Return Form.
The Income Tax Department informed about this change through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The post said, "Taxpayers please note! CBDT has decided to extend the due date for filing ITR to September 15, 2025. Earlier this date was July 31, 2025. This extension will provide more time due to significant modifications in ITR forms, system development requirements and TDS credit reflection. This ensures a seamless and more accurate filing experience for all. Formal notification will be issued later."
