Manimahesh Yatra Tragedy: 3 Young Pilgrims from Punjab Die Due to Lack of Oxygen
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic incident occurred during the sacred Manimahesh Yatra in Himachal Pradesh, where three young pilgrims from Punjab lost their lives due to oxygen shortage at high altitude.
The deceased have been identified as Aman (18) and Rohit (18), both from Pathankot, and Anmol (26) from Gurdaspur. According to local administration, Aman was rescued from Kamal Kund last night but passed away at Gauri Kund. Rohit succumbed while trekking on the Kugti trail, also due to oxygen deprivation.
Their bodies are being brought to Bharmour for post-mortem. The SDM of Bharmour confirmed the deaths and stated that the continuous heavy rains over the last 24 hours have forced authorities to temporarily suspend the pilgrimage. Devotees have been directed to halt at safe locations until conditions improve.
The torrential rains have also triggered multiple landslides on the Pathankot–Bharmour National Highway, completely blocking vehicular movement and leaving several Manimahesh pilgrims stranded en route. Rescue and relief operations are underway.
