Pune (The Uttam Hindu) : Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan made it clear that India's patience has boundaries and declared that terrorism sponsored by Pakistan must come to an end. Speaking at an event in Pune organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University on the topic “Future Warfare and Military Strategy,” he emphasized that India will no longer live under the shadow of terrorism or tolerate nuclear blackmail. Addressing the audience, General Chauhan revealed crucial details about Operation Sindoor, a swift and precise Indian military response launched after a brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam. "On May 10, around 1 AM, Pakistan initiated a plan to bring India to its knees within 48 hours through multiple attacks and escalation tactics," said the CDS. “But we responded by only targeting terrorist camps with precision. What they expected to be a 48-hour operation collapsed in just 8 hours. After that, they picked up the phone and said they wanted to talk.” CDS Chauhan stressed that the operation was not an act of revenge, but a demonstration that India's tolerance has a threshold. "Pakistan must now understand that it cannot hold India hostage through terrorism," he stated.

Key Highlights of General Anil Chauhan's Statement:

Pahalgam Attack Sparked the Operation: The operation began in response to the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, which the CDS described as an act of extreme cruelty. Precision Strikes, Not Escalation: Indian forces targeted only terror camps. Civilian areas and military assets were not struck, maintaining the moral high ground. Message to Pakistan: “If Pakistan targets our military establishments, we will respond even more strongly,” said General Chauhan, reinforcing India’s commitment to national defense.

Limits of Tolerance: He recalled that in 1965, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had declared a thousand-year war against India. “That mindset continues,” he said, “but India has now drawn the line.” Focus on Results, Not Losses: “In war, results matter more than losses,” the CDS explained. “Just as in a test match, if you win by an innings, the number of balls or wickets doesn’t matter.” CDS Chauhan concluded that Operation Sindoor was a clear message to Pakistan and the world: India is capable of swift, decisive action when provoked, and will no longer accept cross-border terrorism as the status quo.
