PGI Chandigarh on High Alert, All Doctors' Leaves Cancelled Amid Operation Sindoor Fallout
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): After India's 'Operation Sindoor' in Pakistan, the Chandigarh administration has started preparations like a health emergency. The leaves of all medical officers have been cancelled with immediate effect. Under the orders, all doctors and staff will now be in 24x7 emergency duty mode. Also, special disaster ward and separate gate have been arranged in PGI hospital.
Medical emergency alert in Chandigarh after 'Operation Sindoor', all doctors' leaves cancelled; Disaster ward ready in PGI : An order issued by the National Health Mission, Chandigarh (UT) said that doctors and staff posted at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) and Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (UAAMs) will have to cancel their leaves with immediate effect. They will have to respond to phone calls immediately — non-compliance has been warned of strict disciplinary action.
According to PGI Medical Superintendent Prof. Vipin Kaushal, a separate disaster ward and special entry gate have been prepared on the Nehru ground floor. Considering the experience of the Covid period, this time the arrangements are better than before. However, the appointment of nodal officers for disaster management is yet to be done.
Dr. Sanjeev Palta himself inspected the arrangements of ICU and HDU. The trauma block has been prepared as a makeshift hospital. The pharmacy has been instructed to keep all the necessary medicines in stock. There will be a ban on the movement of vehicles in the hospital premises.
Director Health Service Dr. Suman Singh said that nursing superintendents have been instructed to train the staff to handle patients and their relatives in an emergency. In wards where there are no curtains, privacy is being ensured with black chart paper. During the mock drill, patients and relatives were also prevented from using mobile phones.
The chemist shop and library located in the PGI campus have also been put on alert mode. The staff here have also been instructed to remain alert and respond immediately to any emergency information
