Punjab's New Initiative: Board Exam Toppers to Experience Historical Cities by Air
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab government has taken a new initiative to promote education and encourage meritorious students. While felicitating the toppers of class 10th and 12th in Chandigarh today, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that the students securing top positions in the board examinations will now be taken on vocational trips by plane.
During this trip, the students will be taken on a tour of a historical city, which will give them an opportunity to learn new things. The entire expense of this trip will be borne by the Punjab government. On this occasion, the Chief Minister directed the Education Minister to take immediate steps in this direction, considering that now the government has sufficient budget available.
Mann also clarified that the trip will not only include state toppers but also district toppers. He said that if required, two planes can also be booked. Apart from this, the Chief Minister announced that all the toppers will get a chance to visit the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in the upcoming monsoon session.
Emphasizing on the quality of education, Bhagwant Mann said that only schemes like Blue, Green and Red Card will not improve the situation but the future of the state can be changed only through good education.
Responding to a question from the media, the Chief Minister said that teachers will only be asked to do teaching work. Teachers will not be put on duty for the upcoming census and the department will be informed in advance about this.
It is worth noting that this year the result of class 10th of Punjab Board was 95.60%, while the result of class 12th was 91%. In this felicitation ceremony, all the toppers were felicitated with cash prizes.
