Update: 2025-06-04 08:33 GMT

London (The Uttam Hindu): Ukraine's military strength is now going to get a big boost in the two and a half year long war with Russia. After Ukraine recently carried out drone attacks deep inside the Russian border, Britain has announced to provide large amounts of drone assistance to Ukraine. Ukraine has set a target of acquiring one lakh drones by April 2026 and Britain is going to make a significant contribution to this effort.

Britain has made it clear that it strongly supports Ukraine. It believes that drones have changed the way of war and through these Ukraine can get an edge over the Russian army. Keeping this in mind, Britain has decided to increase the supply of drones to Ukraine by ten times.

Prior to this announcement by Britain, Germany had also announced to give a large number of long-range missiles to Ukraine. Britain has been a leading Western country that has openly provided military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Ukraine has faced some setbacks in conventional artillery and shelling in the current war, but drone warfare has caused a lot of damage to Russia. After Ukraine's drone attacks, a debate has also started whether future wars will be drone-based or not. In such a situation, this big help from Britain clearly indicates that it will continue its support to Ukraine, which has historically taken a stance opposite to Russia.

According to the British government, it is going to provide military aid worth 4.5 billion pounds to Ukraine. The main part of this package will focus on drone supply. British Defense Minister John Haley will soon give detailed information about this. Britain aims to hand over thousands of drones to Ukraine by the end of this year, and the target is to supply one lakh drones by April. Apart from drones, Britain is also preparing to provide ammunition to Ukraine on a large scale. This assistance will definitely significantly increase Ukraine's war fighting capability.
