Supreme Court Issues Major Order: NEET PG 2025 Exam to Be Held in a Single Shift Only
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Supreme Court on Friday directed that the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Post Graduate (NEET-PG) 2025 exam scheduled for June 15 be conducted in a single shift instead of two shifts.
The Supreme Court has said in its order that the NEET PG 2025 exam should not be conducted in two shifts. The court said that if this is done, it can create different levels of arbitrariness and difficulty. The court has clearly asked the National Board of Examination i.e. NBE to make arrangements to conduct the examination in one shift only. The Supreme Court has said this during the hearing on the petition challenging the decision of the National Board of Examination to conduct the NEET PG 2025 examination in two shifts. This petition has been filed by the United Doctors Front. It has been said in the petition that this examination should be conducted in a single session across the country. During the last hearing, the Supreme Court had issued a notice and sought a reply. The NEET PG exam is to be held on June 15.
A bench of Justices Sanjay Kumar and NV Anjaria said that conducting the exam in two shifts gives rise to "arbitrariness". The court remarked that the difficulty level or simplicity of two different question papers can never be the same. Therefore, for uniformity and fairness, it is necessary to conduct the exam in a single shift so that all the candidates get equal opportunity.
