New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): The Supreme Court of India has amended its office working hours, with changes taking effect from July 14, 2025, under the Supreme Court (Amendment) Rules, 2025. The update was notified in the Gazette of India on June 14 through G.S.R. 385(E), following the President’s approval under Article 145 of the Constitution.

According to the revised rules, Court offices will function Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no work accepted after 4:30 PM unless urgent. On Saturdays, offices will remain open from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with post-12 PM work limited to emergencies.

For partial working days or during holidays like Christmas and New Year, timings will be set by the Chief Justice. These rules replace earlier provisions in the Supreme Court Rules, 2013, and aim to improve administrative efficiency and urgency management. The notification was signed by Kuntal Sharma Pathak, OSD (Registrar).
