Barabanki(The Uttam Hindu): A major panic broke out on Saturday morning at the district hospital in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, after a mobile phone exploded in a patient's trouser pocket. The loud blast terrified both patients and hospital staff, causing a brief stampede. Fire was brought under control using extinguishers, and police later arrived to investigate.

The patient, Avneesh Pal, a resident of Ujjwal Nagar, was admitted to the emergency ward after a bike accident involving a car while heading to Lucknow. While being treated, smoke was seen coming from his pocket, followed by a sudden explosion and fire—caused by his damaged Motorola phone. At the time of the incident, most patients were asleep. The blast startled everyone, and chaos ensued. Luckily, no injuries were reported, though the phone was completely destroyed.

Initial investigation suggests that the accident had damaged the phone, leading to a short circuit and eventually the blast. The police confirmed the explosion was due to a battery-related issue, and further examination is underway. The situation later returned to normal, but the incident has raised concerns over mobile phone safety, especially in sensitive areas like hospitals.
