New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): The government has proposed eligibility conditions for gig and platform workers to receive benefits under the labour codes, requiring them to be engaged for at least 90 days with an aggregator or 120 days with multiple aggregators in the last financial year.
Key Highlights:
1. Workers must earn income for work done for an aggregator to be considered "engaged".
2. Engagement days will be added together across multiple aggregators.
3. Workers engaged with multiple aggregators on the same day will be counted as separate days of engagement.
The government seeks stakeholder feedback within 30-45 days before finalizing the rules, aiming to implement the labour codes from April 1, 2026.
