New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid rising demand for LPG across the country, the government has made Aadhaar-based e-KYC mandatory for all domestic gas consumers. Under the new rule, users who have not yet completed e-KYC must do so जल्द, otherwise their gas subsidy and cylinder booking may be affected.

According to the government, this step has been taken to enhance transparency and ensure that subsidies reach the rightful beneficiaries. Consumer identity will now be verified through biometric or face authentication.

Complete e-KYC from home via mobile

Consumers no longer need to visit gas agencies. They can complete the e-KYC process using their smartphones by downloading the respective gas company’s mobile app, logging in, and selecting the e-KYC or Aadhaar authentication option.

For verification, users may need to use an additional app like FaceRD for face scan or biometric authentication. Once completed, the e-KYC gets updated within minutes. The government claims the process is free, simple, and quick.

Documents required for e-KYC

Consumers should keep the following details ready:

Aadhaar card

LPG consumer number

Gas agency name

Mobile number

Bank account details (for subsidy)

What is LPG e-KYC?

LPG e-KYC is a digital process through which consumers verify their identity using Aadhaar. It helps gas companies maintain updated records and ensures subsidies are delivered to the correct individuals.

Impact of not completing e-KYC

Consumers who fail to complete e-KYC may face several issues:

Difficulty in booking gas cylinders

Delay in receiving subsidy

Inability to update connection details

In some cases, temporary suspension of subsidy

Experts advise consumers to complete the e-KYC process at the earliest to avoid any inconvenience.
