New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The UIDAI has given major relief to Aadhaar users who often face long queues and repeated visits to Aadhaar Seva Kendras for minor updates. Users can now update their mobile number in Aadhaar directly from home using the new Aadhaar App, without visiting any centre.

No Documents Required

The biggest advantage of this new service is that users no longer need to upload or submit any documents to update their mobile number. UIDAI aims to reduce physical documentation and promote a fully digital, hassle-free process.

Face Authentication for Verification

According to UIDAI, the mobile update process has been designed as a secure two-step verification system.

First, the user will receive an OTP on the existing or new mobile number for authentication.

Next, the Aadhaar App will complete identity verification through Face Authentication using its built-in tools.

This ensures strong security and protects user data.

Address Update from Home Coming Soon

UIDAI has announced on platform ‘X’ that after mobile number update, the option to update home address from home will also be introduced soon. Users will no longer need to visit any centre for address changes in the near future.

How to Use the Aadhaar App

Android users can download the Aadhaar App from Google Play Store, while iPhone users can get it from the App Store.

Steps:

Step 1: Open the app and select your preferred language.

Step 2: Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.

Step 3: Complete verification using OTP and Face Scan.

Step 4: Set a 6-digit security PIN to secure your profile.
