New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Important information has emerged regarding Ravi Uppal, co-founder of the Mahadev online book app. Uppal, accused of defrauding thousands of crores of rupees through illegal betting along with Saurabh Chandrakar, has gone missing. Despite being arrested in Dubai in December 2023 following an Interpol red notice, he has now fled the Gulf country to an undisclosed location.

A major blow to India's hopes, Mahadev app owner Ravi Uppal remains absconding from UAE despite arrest : UAE authorities have not informed India about Uppal's route of departure or his destination, but have initiated the process of closing the extradition process. His absconding has posed a major challenge for the investigating agencies – ED, CBI and Chhattisgarh Police – whose aim is to bring the accused to justice and provide justice to the cheated people. Given the improved relations between India and UAE, the agencies were hopeful that the extradition of Uppal and Chandrakar would be possible.

According to the official, the UAE has requested the termination of the extradition process. Ravi Uppal, in his 50s, and his partner Saurabh Chandrakar are accused of a ₹6,000 crore scam. They co-founded the online betting app in 2018.

According to the ED chargesheet, this network operated through approximately 3,200 panels across the country and generated a daily revenue of approximately ₹240 crore. According to the report, Uppal and Chandrakar rented 20 luxurious bungalows in Dubai for their 3,500 employees. Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has also been named in the case.
