New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A message is being circulated on social media claiming that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has instructed all banks to stop putting Rs 500 notes in ATMs from September 2025. As soon as this message went viral, confusion arose among the people. However, in the fact check, this claim has been found to be completely fake and baseless.

The viral message claims that as per an alleged RBI directive, banks will not load Rs 500 notes in ATM machines after September 2025, which will gradually take this note out of circulation. This claim has led to concerns among common people about their cash.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, the fact check unit of Press Information Bureau (PIB) investigated this claim and declared it completely fake. PIB has clarified that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has not issued any such instructions regarding the distribution of 500 rupee notes. This message is being spread only with the aim of creating panic and confusion among the public.

The Reserve Bank of India has also clarified that the 500 rupee note is a legal tender and there has been no change in its circulation or validity. The distribution of 500 rupee notes in banks and ATMs will continue as normal as before.

The general public is advised not to believe such baseless rumours. Always rely on official sources for confirmation of any financial information. You can check the official website of RBI (www.rbi.org.in) or its official social media handles to check the authenticity of the information. Avoid sharing any suspicious message without thinking, as it can create unnecessary panic and chaos in the society.
