Taiwan on edge: China's aggressive blockade strands 100,000, tensions soar with US & Japan

Beijing (The Uttam Hindu): Many countries around the world, including India and China, are currently facing severe cold and snowfall. However, even in this freezing weather, China has raised the political temperature with its actions. China has once again fueled fears of war with Taiwan. The Chinese military has deployed its land, navy, and air forces on a large scale on Taiwan's borders and has begun aggressive maneuvers right on the border. This blockade has directly affected the common people. The skies around Taiwan have become like a no-fly zone, due to which a large number of flights have had to be cancelled. According to Taiwan Air Authorities, this action by China will affect approximately 100,000 air travelers worldwide.

Recent statements and decisions by the US and Japan are believed to be behind China's anger. Recently, the US approved the supply of $11 billion worth of weapons to Taiwan. China, which considers Taiwan part of its territory under the "One China Policy," is deeply enraged by this decision. Adding fuel to the fire was Japan's statement, in which Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi explicitly warned that if China attempted to annex Taiwan, the Japanese military would join the war. Following this statement, the Chinese leadership issued a scathing remark, stating that the "right time" had come for Taiwan to come under Chinese rule.

Taiwan has put its forces on high alert, calling China an 'enemy of world peace'. The Taiwanese government says that they are ready to deal with any situation. Meanwhile, China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) has surrounded Taiwan from all sides. According to a Chinese spokesperson, their military exercises are going on in the north, south-west and south-east directions besides the Taiwan Strait. The situation is so tense that even a small spark can take the form of a big war. Without naming America and Japan, China has alleged that external forces are provoking Taiwan for independence, which will not be tolerated at any cost.
