Big push for PNG in Delhi, 4 lakh new connections to be rolled out soon
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Delhi government has announced a major expansion of its piped natural gas (PNG) network, aiming to provide around four lakh new connections across the city. The initiative is part of a broader effort to promote clean energy usage and reduce dependence on traditional LPG cylinders.
The decision comes as authorities look to speed up infrastructure development and ensure wider access to PNG in residential areas. Officials have been directed to simplify the connection process and increase the pace of installations so that more households can benefit from uninterrupted gas supply.
Currently, a large number of households in the capital are already connected to the PNG network and the government is now focusing on covering remaining areas, including underserved localities. Awareness campaigns are also expected to be launched to encourage residents to switch to PNG.
The expansion is likely to improve convenience for consumers while also supporting environmental goals by promoting a cleaner and more efficient fuel alternative across the national capital.
