Nuh/Faridabad (The Uttam Hindu): The white sheet of dense fog proved fatal on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on Monday morning. Due to extremely low visibility, speeding wreaked havoc on the expressway, where four people died tragically in separate horrific road accidents in Faridabad and Nuh districts. The fog was so dense that drivers could not see anything even at a distance of a few feet, due to which vehicles collided with each other one after the other. More than 10 people were injured in these accidents, who have been admitted to hospitals. A sub-inspector of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is also among the dead.

The situation was most dire in Nuh district, where around 4 a.m., fog-induced collisions between approximately 30 vehicles on the Rajasthan-Delhi lane led to a collision. The impact was so severe that several vehicles were completely destroyed. Two people were killed in the pile-up. The deceased have been identified as CISF sub-inspector Harish Kumar, a resident of Alwar, and businessman Khalil Ahmed, a Jaipur businessman. The injured have been admitted to the government hospital in Mandikheda. Eyewitnesses have also alleged that the police and ambulance arrived late.

Meanwhile, fog claimed two lives near Kail village in Faridabad. A speeding Endeavour car rammed into a roadside truck. The impact was so severe that two of the three occupants died on the spot, while one was seriously injured. One of the deceased has been identified as Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Jaipur, while efforts are underway to identify the other. A Creta car also collided with a truck at the same location, but its driver narrowly escaped. Police cleared the damaged vehicles with a crane and restored traffic. Drivers have been advised to use fog lights and drive slowly in the fog.
