Fake ‘doctor’ with only Class 12 education causes death, gives injections to girl suffering from period pain
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): A serious and disturbing case has come to light from Vashi area of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, where a 21-year-old woman died after being treated by a fake doctor. The accused, 30-year-old Santosh Pashte, who falsely claimed to be a doctor, has been arrested by Vashi Police and sent to police custody after being produced in court.
According to the police, the young woman was suffering from menstrual-related health issues. During this time, the accused introduced himself as a doctor and began treating her. Investigation revealed that he administered Emeset and Dynapar injections through intravenous route.
Condition worsened after treatment, death at hospital
Soon after the injections were given, the woman’s condition deteriorated rapidly and a severe infection spread in her body. As her condition became critical, family members rushed her to PKC Hospital in Vashi, where doctors declared her dead after examination. Following the incident, the victim’s family lodged a complaint at the Vashi police station, after which police registered a case and arrested the accused.
Accused found to be only Class 12 pass
Police investigation exposed a shocking fact that the accused is not a qualified doctor. He has studied only up to Class 12, yet was illegally treating people while posing as a medical professional.
Police searching for other possible victims
Senior Police Superintendent Shashikant Chandekar stated that a case has been registered under relevant sections and further investigation is underway. Police are now trying to find out how many people were previously treated by the accused and whether more such cases may surface.
