New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Dense fog severely disrupted flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in the national capital, causing major inconvenience to passengers. Monday turned out to be especially difficult as poor visibility brought air traffic to a near standstill. According to airport authorities, a total of 128 flights were cancelled during the day, affecting thousands of travellers and throwing schedules into chaos.

Out of the cancelled flights, 64 were arrivals and 64 were departures. The sudden cancellations led to heavy crowds at airport terminals, creating confusion and long waiting times. Passengers were seen lining up at airline counters seeking updates, rebooking and refunds.

In addition to cancellations, flight diversions and delays added to the disruption. Due to poor landing conditions, around eight aircraft were diverted to nearby airports. More than 30 flights were delayed well beyond their scheduled departure times, forcing passengers to wait for hours as flight timings kept changing.

Given the situation, passengers have been advised to check the latest flight status with their airlines before heading to the airport, as fog conditions continue to impact operations in Delhi.
