Playing PUBG with headphones, blood pressure suddenly spiked; brain vessel burst, youth dies
Meerut (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking case highlighting the deadly impact of mobile gaming addiction has emerged from Meerut. A 22-year-old youth, Mohammad Kaif, died after his blood pressure suddenly shot up while playing the PUBG mobile game, leading to a brain hemorrhage. The incident took place in Khairnagar area of Meerut, sending shockwaves through the locality.
Mohammad Kaif, the only son of property dealer Farooq, was playing PUBG late Friday night in his room with headphones on. According to family members, Kaif had been addicted to online gaming for the past four months. Around 3 am, while playing continuously, he suddenly collapsed from the bed.
When family members rushed into the room, they found him in a critical condition and immediately took him to a nearby hospital. Doctors there discovered that his blood pressure had crossed 300, after which he was referred to Delhi due to the seriousness of his condition.
After battling for life for two days at a Delhi hospital, Kaif passed away on Sunday morning. Doctors stated that extreme stress and mental overstimulation caused a sudden spike in blood pressure, leading to brain hemorrhage, which proved fatal.
Kaif’s father Farooq said that his son was earlier interested in making social media reels, but in recent months he became deeply addicted to PUBG, spending entire nights glued to his mobile phone. Despite repeated attempts by the family to stop him, Kaif did not listen.
The death of the only child has left the family devastated, with an atmosphere of grief at home. Psychologists warn that online games increase dopamine levels in the brain, making them highly addictive and posing serious risks to both mental and physical health, especially among youth.
