Rain and storms to hit NCR, bringing cooler temps and fresher air
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The weather in the National Capital Region (NCR) is set to change once again. According to the Meteorological Department's forecast, heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong surface winds will be observed in Delhi-NCR on January 31st and February 1st.
NCR's weather will change again, with rain and storms bringing down temperatures and clearing the air: During this period, minimum temperatures will also drop, which may increase the effect of cold once again. According to the weather forecast report, moderate fog will prevail in NCR on January 30. On this day, the maximum temperature will be recorded at around 19 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 10 degrees Celsius.
The weather is expected to be more active on January 31st. The day will begin with moderate to dense fog, while thunderstorms, lightning, and strong surface winds are expected in the evening and night. The maximum temperature on this day is expected to be 20 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 7 degrees Celsius.
Similarly, the Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms for February 1st. Fog is expected in the morning, while rain and strong winds are expected again in the evening and night. The maximum temperature on this day is expected to be 18 degrees Celsius and the minimum is expected to be 12 degrees Celsius. Due to the persistent strong winds and potential rain, the air in the NCR has become breathable.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) has improved in many areas. Aya Nagar and CRRI Mathura Road in Delhi recorded an AQI of 188 (yellow zone). The AQI in Pusa was 169. However, pollution remained severe in some areas. Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range (304), RK Puram (316), Sirifort (314) and Wazirpur (303) were recorded in the red zone.
In Noida, Sector 62 recorded an AQI of 183 (yellow zone), while Sector 125, Sector 1 and Sector 116 recorded AQIs between 264 and 267. In Ghaziabad, areas like Indirapuram (288), Sanjay Nagar (217) and Vasundhara (314) recorded air quality in different categories, while Loni recorded a severe AQI of 316.
The Meteorological Department has advised people to be cautious during rain and strong winds. Drivers have been advised to stay away from open spaces, trees, and power poles, and to exercise caution in fog.
