Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): A heartbreaking incident has come to light from the Para police station area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Two real sisters, deeply distressed due to the illness of their pet dog, died by suicide after consuming phenyl. Two days after their deaths, their pet dog ‘Tony’ also passed away. Tony had been suffering from a severe stomach-related illness and breathed his last on Saturday morning. The family has begun preparations for the dog’s last rites with a heavy heart.

The deceased sisters have been identified as 24-year-old Radha Singh and 22-year-old Jia Singh, both graduates and daughters of 65-year-old Kailash Singh, a resident of Para. The family had a German Shepherd dog named Tony, who had been ill for nearly a month. Despite continuous treatment, his condition did not improve, which caused intense mental stress for the sisters. They constantly feared that Tony might not survive.

According to family members, the younger sister Jia was already mentally fragile, and Tony’s worsening health pushed both sisters into severe depression. On Wednesday, under extreme stress, both consumed phenyl and informed their mother, Gulaba Devi, about it. She immediately called her elder son, Veer Singh. With the help of neighbours, the sisters were rushed to Rani Laxmi Bai Hospital. Radha died on the way, while Jia passed away during treatment at the hospital. Police completed the post-mortem and other legal formalities.

The family revealed that the sisters had not stepped out of the house for nearly six years and were completely cut off from social life. They avoided social gatherings, weddings, and parties, and had little connection with mobile phones or social media. Most of their time was spent with their dog. They even cooked separately and always kept aside a portion of food for Tony.

Relatives and neighbours also mentioned that the family believed the sisters were under some kind of supernatural influence. They were taken to religious places, including Mehandipur Balaji, for rituals, but there was no improvement in their mental condition.

Neighbours said the sisters loved Tony like a child. If the dog refused to eat, they would also skip their meals. Ultimately, the fear of losing their beloved pet proved unbearable, leading to the tragic deaths of the two sisters, followed shortly by the death of their dog.
