New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking case has emerged from Tamil Nadu, where the death of a man initially believed to be caused by a snake bite was later revealed to be a well-planned murder. Police investigations found that the victim, 56-year-old E.P. Ganesan, was allegedly killed by his own sons to claim a life insurance payout worth several crores.

According to police, Ganesan was working as a lab assistant in a government school. His body was found at his residence in Pothathurpettai village in October. The family initially reported the death as a case of snake bite, and police registered it as a natural incident. However, suspicion arose when Ganesan’s sons filed a claim for life insurance amounting to nearly Rs 3 crore. The insurance company flagged the claim as suspicious and requested a detailed police inquiry.

During reinvestigation, police discovered that a large life insurance policy had been taken in Ganesan’s name by his sons. Investigators revealed that about a week before the murder, the accused had attempted to kill him using a poisonous cobra, but the plan failed. Undeterred, they later arranged a highly venomous krait and allegedly forced it to bite Ganesan on the neck. To destroy evidence, the snake was killed inside the house.

Police further stated that after the venom took effect, the family deliberately delayed taking Ganesan to the hospital to make the death appear accidental. In connection with the case, police have arrested six people, including both sons and others who helped arrange the snakes and cover up the murder. Further investigation into the conspiracy is ongoing.
