Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle passed away in Mumbai, leaving behind an unmatched legacy in Indian music. She was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday evening and her death was confirmed by her son Anand Bhosle on Sunday. Her last rites will be held on Monday with final darshan scheduled in the morning followed by the funeral in the evening.
Asha Bhosle was among the last great voices of Hindi cinema and, along with her sister Lata Mangeshkar, ruled the music industry for decades. She worked alongside legends like Mukesh, Mohammed Rafi and Kishore Kumar. Starting her career at a very young age, she went on to record more than 12000 songs in 22 languages and earned recognition in the Guinness World Records for her remarkable achievements. She was honoured with prestigious awards including the Padma Vibhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Apart from her musical journey, she was also a successful entrepreneur with business ventures across several countries. Her estimated net worth is said to be between 200 and 250 crore rupees. She established a chain of restaurants in countries such as the UAE Kuwait Bahrain and the United Kingdom including cities like Birmingham and Manchester. Known for her passion for cooking she was personally involved in training chefs. She also owned luxury properties in Mumbai and Pune along with high end cars and assets worth several crores, reflecting her success beyond the world of music.
