Troubles increased for famous actor Dino Morea's, ED raided several places...Know the whole matter

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Bollywood actor Dino Morea is in the news these days more for a big scam than for his films. His and his brother Santino Morea's name has surfaced in the investigation of Mumbai's much talked about Mithi river cleaning scam. The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is investigating this case, has raided about a dozen locations and summons have been issued to Santino Morea for questioning.

Bollywood actor Dino Morea's troubles increased, ED raided several places; Know what is the matter : According to ED sources, the names of Dino Morea and his brother Santino have surfaced in the investigation of the call records of scam's main accused Ketan Kadam. It is alleged that they had several conversations with Ketan, due to which the agency suspects that both of them may have some role in this scam. Earlier, the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police has also questioned Dino and Santino. They were summoned only last week.

What is the Mithi River scam?

Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recently launched a big campaign to clean the Mithi River. In this cleaning campaign, sludge pushers and dredging machines were hired, for which a Kochi-based company Matprop Technical Services Private Limited was hired. It is alleged that these machines were hired at a much higher rate than the market rate, and huge financial irregularities were committed in this entire process.

The main accused in the scam, Ketan Kadam and Jai Joshi, are accused of embezzling crores of rupees in connivance with officials of Matprop Company and some officers of BMC's Storm Water Drainage Department. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has suffered a loss of about Rs 65.54 crore due to this scam. ED is now investigating this entire network to find out how people associated with the film industry got involved in this corruption and whether there is any concrete evidence against them.
