Ex-employee's brazen heist: CCTV exposes theft at Manoj Tiwari's Mumbai home
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): A sensational theft has been reported at the Mumbai residence of Manoj Tiwari, BJP MP from North-East Delhi and renowned actor. Mumbai's Amboli police have uncovered the case and arrested Surendra Kumar Dinanath Sharma, a former employee of Tiwari's. Investigations have revealed that the accused cleverly made off with lakhs of rupees using duplicate keys to the house and cupboards.
Incident at Sundarban Apartments in Andheri West
The incident took place at the Sundarban Apartments in Shastri Nagar, Andheri West, Mumbai. Manoj Tiwari's manager, Pramod Jogendra Pandey, who has lived with him for the past 20 years, filed a police complaint. According to the police, the arrested accused, Surendra, was fired from his job about two years ago, but he still possessed duplicate keys to the flat.
Theft in two installments, caught by hidden cameras
This theft occurred at two different times. First, in June 2025, ₹4.40 lakh (440,000 rupees) went missing from a cupboard. At that time, the thief was undetected because the money disappeared without the lock being broken. Suspicious, the manager installed hidden CCTV cameras inside the house in December 2025. Subsequently, on the night of January 15, 2026, when ₹1 lakh (100,000 rupees) was stolen again, the CCTV footage was checked.
He entered the house calmly, took out the money and left
CCTV footage from around 9 pm on January 15th revealed all the secrets. The footage clearly showed former employee Surendra Sharma entering the premises by unlocking the main gate and bedroom with duplicate keys. He calmly opened the cupboard, took out the money, and then fled. Upon identifying him based on the footage, the police were informed, following which he was arrested. During interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime, and the police are now working to recover the stolen money.
