The bitterness of this relationship, which ended years ago, still lingers in Somi's statements. Somi has candidly described how, after falling in love with her, Salman broke up with his then-fiancée Sangeeta Bijlani, even though their wedding cards had already been printed.

She only thought that coming to India from America was fulfilling her biggest dream. Somi added that Salman was 27 years old at the time and had full understanding. Somi says that if Salman hadn't abandoned Sangeeta that day, she would have returned to her country.
