Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu):  The Union Budget 2026-27, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament today, has opened new avenues of development for Haryana. The total budget size is ₹53.5 lakh crore, with capital expenditure (capex) increased to ₹12.2 lakh crore—approximately 9% higher than last year. This increase will prove to be a boon for a rapidly developing state like Haryana, where proximity to the NCR, a strong industrial base, and agricultural foundation will further accelerate the pace of development.

Key benefits and positive provisions for Haryana:

The budget has announced an additional tax share of ₹1.4 lakh crore for the states. Adhering to the recommendations of the 16th Finance Commission, the states' share has been maintained at 41%. Haryana, which contributes significantly to central taxes, will receive strong financial support from this. This amount will boost education, health, rural development, roads, and other infrastructure projects in the state.

Increased Capex and Infrastructure Boost:

The ₹12.2 lakh crore capex will boost rail, road, RRTS (corridors like Delhi-Gurugram-Faridabad), EV charging networks, Industrial Model Township (IMT) expansion, and other projects across the country. New investments will flow into Haryana's existing IMTs in Kharkhoda, Manesar, and other areas, creating millions of job opportunities. The increase in RIDF and UIDF, as demanded by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, will further strengthen rural and urban infrastructure.

Semiconductor, Manufacturing and Technology Hub:

A significant provision has been made for the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0. Haryana has a strong electronics, automobile, and manufacturing sector—this budget will help attract new investments, skill development, and create technology hubs. The focus on MSMEs, startups, and biopharma will provide attractive employment opportunities for the state's youth.

Agriculture, Rural Development and Farmer Welfare:

Haryana is an agrarian state. The budget emphasizes the rural economy, crop diversification, water conservation, and increasing farmers' income. New plans in sectors such as rare earth minerals, critical minerals, and biopharma will benefit farmers and the agri-industry in Haryana. The state's schemes like 'Mera Pani-Meri Virasat' (My Water-My Heritage) will receive national-level support.

Positive Initiatives: The budget focuses on medical tourism, AI, skill development, carbon capture and container manufacturing. Inflation control, tax simplification, and relief for the middle class will also benefit the citizens of Haryana. New initiatives worth ₹10,000 crore in biopharma and life sciences will strengthen the state's health sector.

This budget is a strong step towards making Haryana a growth engine in realizing the vision of a developed India @2047. The partnership of the double-engine government will provide new energy to infrastructure, employment, prosperity, and youth power in the state. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has stated that this central budget will further accelerate Haryana's progress, ensuring that the wave of development reaches the people.
