72-Hour Shutdown Erupts in Protest Against Katra-Bhavan Ropeway Project

Katra(The Uttam Hindu): A 72-hour shutdown has been announced in protest of the proposed ropeway linking Katra to Bhavan. The horse, porter, and palki services to Mata Vaishno Devi would be withdrawn also. All shops on the Katra to Bhavan route have been closed. Those run by the Shrine Board have been left open. All other private shops and businesses will be closed. After considering the ropeway, it was decided that the protesters gather for a rally and express dissent against the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The protesters had demanded that the rope-way should be constructed along the traditional and historic route.
