Akhilesh Yadav’s big political move, open offer to both Deputy CMs to bring 100 MLAs and become Chief Minister
Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): In a major political development in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has made a bold public offer to the two Deputy Chief Ministers of the state. On Sunday, he said that either Keshav Prasad Maurya or Brajesh Pathak can bring the support of 100 MLAs and directly assume the post of Chief Minister.
The Samajwadi Party leader stated that he had earlier made a similar offer to Keshav Prasad Maurya and has now extended the same opportunity to Brajesh Pathak. His remarks have triggered fresh political debate in the state, with attention now on how the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party will respond.
Criticism of Yogi government over Shankaracharya issue
Along with the political offer, Akhilesh Yadav strongly criticized the state government over the recent Shankaracharya controversy. He questioned the administration’s actions and said that in Sanatan tradition, no Shankaracharya had ever been stopped from taking a dip in the Ganga, and such an incident was unprecedented.
He further alleged that when a religious leader was publicly insulted, those claiming to protect religion remained silent. He warned that the people of the state are watching these developments and will respond in the future.
Remark on Ramabhadracharya case
During his statement, Akhilesh Yadav also referred to an incident from nearly two decades ago involving Jagadguru Rambhadracharya. He said that although he does not wish to comment personally, if the person accused of insulting the Shankaracharya was his disciple, then withdrawing the earlier fraud (Section 420) case against Rambhadracharya was a mistake. He added that the case should not have been withdrawn.
The Samajwadi Party chief also predicted the fall of the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state, alleging corruption in development works and disrespect toward religious leaders. He claimed that as public dissatisfaction grows, the PDA (Backward, Dalit, Minority) alliance is becoming stronger.
