Another terrorist plot foiled in the valley, IED found by roadside in Ganderbal; bomb disposal squad on site
Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have once again foiled a sinister plan aimed at disrupting peace in the valley. A major terror plot was averted when alert personnel recovered a powerful IED (Improvised Explosive Device) in Ganderbal district in time. This quick and precise action not only prevented a deadly attack but also saved the lives of many innocent civilians and security personnel. Due to the severity of the threat, the entire area was immediately cordoned off.
Traffic halted on Safapora route, bomb disposal squad takes charge
According to official sources, the suspicious IED was planted on the Ganderbal-Safapora main road, a route often used for crucial movement. Alert security personnel spotted the device during routine patrols, triggering an immediate alert across the department. Precautionary measures included halting all traffic and securing the area. The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) quickly arrived and carefully defused the explosive.
VIP and security convoys were the terrorists’ targets
Authorities believe terrorists are strategically placing IEDs to target VIP movements, police, army, and other security convoys. By hiding explosives along busy roads and highways, they aim to cause maximum casualties. However, round-the-clock vigilance by Indian security forces continues to thwart such malicious attempts.
Third deadly explosive recovered in four days
This marks the third major IED recovery in just four days in the valley. On 20 February, security forces safely neutralized an IED in Baramulla’s Jambazpora area, and on 18 February, a similar explosive was found along the Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway. Following these discoveries, patrolling and search operations have intensified throughout the region to prevent any terrorist incidents.
