Gujarat (The Uttam Hindu): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has announced a relief package of ₹10,000 crore for affected farmers in response to crop damage caused by unseasonal rains in Gujarat. In a social media post on Friday, Patel said, "This year, unlike any unprecedented unseasonal rains in Gujarat in the last two decades, farmers' crops in various districts of the state have been severely damaged."

He added, "In this regard, I and my fellow ministers visited various districts and directly spoke to the affected farmers to take care of their situation." The Chief Minister said that in this hour of natural calamity, the state government understands the plight of the soil people and stands with them with full sympathy.

"Considering the extensive crop losses of farmers across the state, I am announcing a relief package of about Rs 10,000 crore from the state government for the sons of the soil," he said.

He said that apart from this, the state government will also purchase groundnut, moong, black gram and soybean worth over Rs 15,000 crore from farmers at support price from November 9.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said, "I assure you that the state government has always been, is and will always be committed to supporting the farmers by taking their economic welfare and prosperity into its own hands."
