BJP MP moves motion to terminate Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha membership
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The troubles of Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha seem to be increasing. The Bharatiya Janata Party has strongly objected to the statements made by Rahul Gandhi on the trade agreement with America. In this sequence, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has presented a motion in the House on Thursday demanding the termination of Rahul Gandhi's membership of Parliament. In his motion, Dubey has called for not only the cancellation of his membership but also a lifetime ban on him from contesting elections.
'Rahul Gandhi is misleading the country'
Nishikant Dubey has made serious allegations against Rahul Gandhi of compromising the country's security and sovereignty. Introducing the motion, he stated that Rahul Gandhi is misleading the nation with the help of foreign powers, especially those like George Soros. Dubey stated that these forces seek to harm India, and the Leader of the Opposition is furthering their agenda. Based on this, he urged the House to take strict action against Rahul Gandhi and terminate his membership with immediate effect.
What was Rahul Gandhi's controversial statement?
This entire political turmoil began after Rahul Gandhi's statement, in which he launched a scathing attack on the central government. On Wednesday, amid interruptions from the ruling party in Parliament, the former Congress president alleged that the Narendra Modi government had completely "surrendered" the country's interests by signing a trade agreement with the United States. He said that the government should be ashamed of having "sold out Mother India." Rahul also claimed that the agreement had so severely trampled the interests of the country's farmers as no other Prime Minister had done before.
Chirag Paswan also raised questions
Union Minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan also criticized Rahul Gandhi's conduct on this issue. He said that the position of Leader of the Opposition is a highly responsible and serious one, but Rahul Gandhi often abandons decorum and speaks in the House simply for the sake of speaking. Paswan said that it is important for him to understand the seriousness of his position. Commenting on the privilege motion, he said that if a member makes baseless statements in the House, it is every member's right to take such action against him, although a final decision on this matter is still pending.
