New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken another important initiative regarding the growing obesity problem and unhealthy lifestyle among children. After the success of the 'Sugar Board', now CBSE has directed all its affiliated schools to install 'Oil Board'. Its main objective is to make students aware of the harm caused by excessive consumption of edible oils and promote a healthy lifestyle. A circular has been issued for all schools in this regard on Wednesday, in which detailed guidelines have been given to school heads and principals.

What is 'Oil Board' and why was it needed?

The purpose of 'Oil Board' is to make children understand how much oil should be there in their food and how dangerous its excessive use can be for health. CBSE has taken this decision in view of the worrying statistics of obesity among children.

According to the instructions, schools will have to install digital and poster boards in common areas such as canteens, assembly halls and notice boards. These boards will be explained in pictures and simple language about how eating too much fried food is harmful to health.

Not just the 'Oil Board', there are many other instructions

The board has directed to make the fight against obesity a comprehensive campaign, under which many important steps will be taken. Under this initiative, it will now be mandatory to print motivational messages related to 'healthy lifestyle' on all official documents of the school, such as letterheads and notepads. Along with this, to promote physical activity among students, they will be encouraged to use stairs instead of elevators and walk more. A major part of the campaign is also to bring changes in the school canteens, where the availability of junk food will be reduced and nutritious food will be given priority so that students understand the importance of healthy eating and regular exercise.
