Delhi blast case: Police ask private hospitals for list of doctors with foreign medical degrees
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The investigation into the Delhi bomb blast case has intensified. Delhi Police has issued notices to all private hospitals in the city, seeking information on doctors who have obtained MBBS degrees abroad and are currently practicing in Delhi.
Police have specifically sought information about doctors who have MBBS degrees from Pakistan, Bangladesh, the UAE, and China. Officials say this step is for security reasons. Hospital administrations will be required to provide the police with details of foreign-trained doctors working at their hospitals.
Earlier on November 26th, the NIA (National Investigation Agency) granted 10-day remand to Shoaib, an accused in the Delhi blasts case. Shoaib was arrested in Faridabad and produced before the Patiala House Court, where his NIA remand was approved. Another accused in the Delhi blasts case, Aamir Rashid Ali, whose NIA custody was due to expire that day, was also produced before the court, and his custody was extended by seven days.
According to the NIA, Shoaib provided shelter to Dr. Umar Mohammed (also known as Umar Un Nabi) just before the bombing. He also provided the necessary logistical support to execute the planned blast. The car bomb blast occurred near the Red Fort on November 10, killing and injuring several people. Shoaib is the seventh accused arrested in the case. Previously, the NIA arrested six close associates of Umar. The agency stated that it is conducting raids in several states to locate all possible evidence and suspects related to the suicide bombing. The NIA's aim is to apprehend all members of the entire terror network behind the attack.
