Delhi Police issues notice to Penguin over leaked unpublished book by former Army chief Naravane
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Delhi Police has registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the alleged circulation of a pre-print copy of former Army Chief General M.M. Naravane's upcoming book, "Four Stars of Destiny," on social media. The Special Cell has issued a notice to publisher Penguin Random House India, seeking responses on several points.
According to police, information surfaced on various social media platforms and news forums that a pre-print copy of the book was being shared online. A preliminary investigation was initiated after these claims were brought to light.
During the investigation, a typeset PDF copy titled "Four Stars of Destiny" was found available on several websites. This copy allegedly belongs to Penguin Random House India Private Limited. Additionally, the final cover of the book is displayed on some online marketing platforms, as if it were available for sale.
The Delhi Police stated that the matter relates to a potential leak or breach of confidentiality of a book that has yet to receive official approval. Given the sensitivity of the matter, a case has been registered with the Special Cell and a detailed investigation has been initiated.
Police are investigating how a pre-print copy of the book ended up online, what individuals or organizations may have been involved, and whether copyright or other legal provisions were violated. Further legal action will be taken after the investigation is complete.
