UP govt announces ₹1 lakh marriage aid for girls in ₹9.12 lakh crore budget
Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu) : Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented a budget of ₹912,696.35 crore (₹912,696.35 crore) for the fiscal year 2026-27 in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. This budget includes new schemes worth ₹43,565.33 crore.
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented the budget in the Assembly. He stated that provisions have been made for various schemes aimed at strengthening the rural economy and increasing farmers' income. To promote technology-based development, the establishment of a "New and Emerging Technologies Mission" has been announced. Additionally, a data authority and data center clusters will be established in the state.
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna announced that 1 million youth in Uttar Pradesh will be provided with employment. The government will provide one lakh rupees for the marriage of girls. This year, Uttar Pradesh's budget is estimated at ₹912,696 crore, a 12 percent increase over the previous budget.
Suresh Khanna stated that to promote artificial intelligence, the AI Mission and the "Tech Yuva Samarth Yuva Yojana" will be launched, providing training and opportunities for youth in emerging technologies. In the energy sector, provisions have been made to gradually convert diesel-based tube wells to solar energy. At the same time, there will be an emphasis on providing employment-oriented training to youth by increasing the capacity of skill development training centers.
He informed the House that as a result of investment in industry and technology as well as efforts made to promote innovation in the state, the state of Uttar Pradesh has achieved the leader category ranking in the startup ranking at the national level.
The Finance Minister stated that the state is leading the country in the agricultural sector. He added that Uttar Pradesh ranks first in wheat and potato production. Agricultural export hubs will be developed in the state to increase farmers' income and connect the agricultural sector with the global market.
The Finance Minister stated that the state has experienced a steady increase in per capita income and a surge in investment. The economic outlook has been strengthened by the surge in industrial activity. Extensive training programs will be implemented to connect youth with employment. Skill development centers will be expanded and new training centers will be established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Separate skill development centers are also planned for women. To promote industrial development, a provision of ₹575 crore has been made for the new "Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Employment and Industrial Zone" scheme.
Additionally, the "Chief Minister Youth Self-Employment Scheme" will be launched to provide self-employment opportunities to youth. The state government has also announced major initiatives in the digital infrastructure sector. Eight data center parks will be established in the state, with a total capacity of 900 megawatts. This initiative is aimed at attracting IT and technology-based investment.
