Dhankhar's Resignation Accepted; Gives Farewell a Miss, Doesn’t Attend Parliament

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation has been accepted by President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday. This official information was given to the House by presiding officer Ghanshyam Tiwari in the Rajya Sabha today. Dhankhar, who resigned late on Monday night citing health reasons, did not even participate in the proceedings of the House today.


When the Rajya Sabha proceedings began at 11 am on Tuesday, Deputy Chairman Harivansh presided over the House. Later, Presiding Officer Ghanshyam Tiwari informed the House that the President of India has accepted the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Earlier, there were reports that Dhankhar was not willing to withdraw his resignation or attend any farewell ceremony. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has wished Dhankhar good health.


It is worth noting that the 14th Vice President of the country, 74-year-old Jagdeep Dhankhar, suddenly resigned from his post on the night of July 21, while his term was till August 10, 2027. Recently, he had said in a program on July 10, "If God blesses, I will retire in August 2027." After his sudden resignation, the process of election of the new Vice President will be started soon.
