Don’t Ditch the Mask Yet! New COVID Death reporte, Experts Warn of Subtle Spike
New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): COVID-19 cases are creeping back up in the national capital. On Tuesday, a 90-year-old woman tragically lost her battle with the virus, bringing the total death toll in Delhi to 8 since the start of January. The Union Health Ministry reported 37 new cases in the last 24 hours, while 104 patients managed to recover during that same timeframe. Currently, Delhi has 691 active COVID-19 cases, showing a slow but noticeable increase.
Just this past Sunday, the city saw 21 new cases and 132 recoveries. Since January 1, a total of 1,024 patients have successfully recovered from the virus in the city. Health experts are warning that even though the overall case numbers are still relatively low, we shouldn't let our guard down, especially for those who are more vulnerable, like the elderly or individuals with pre-existing health conditions. They’re encouraging everyone to keep up with preventive measures, such as wearing masks in crowded places, practicing good hygiene, and steering clear of unnecessary exposure.
This uptick in cases comes at a time when Delhi is also dealing with fluctuating air quality and rising temperatures, which could pose additional challenges for those with weakened immune systems.
Authorities are keeping a close eye on the situation and are advising citizens to pay attention to even mild symptoms. While no new restrictions have been put in place yet, medical officials emphasize that early detection and prompt treatment are key to preventing severe outcomes.
